With Halloween upon us this weekend, we've put together a top 5 list of our favourite horror films to get you through the spookiest weekend of the year.  There's home invasion , contagion based scares. Science Fiction. Even some Found Footage. These can all be found on Netflix, so we've saved you that long drawn out search..  perhaps whilst lying in the bath. After a hard day of carving pumpkins, conjuring up trick or treats, dressing up the dog and jostling the children from one sweet-infested neighbour to the next, you might just deserve it!

1) You're Next (2011)

Here’s one for you home-invasion horror enthusiasts in the audience. Sharni Vinson plays Erin, a rather demure young woman embarking on holiday with her rich boyfriend’s family at their rich-family secluded country home. We won’t spoil why or what her backstory is, but the basic terror appeal of nihilistic murderers wearing pig faces in tandem with Vinson’s outstanding final girl make this a cringe-to-fist-pump party of scares.

2) American Horror Story

Exploring humankind's unsettling capacity for evil, this darkly twisted drama plays upon the power of supernatural fears and everyday horrors. Described as an anthology series, each season is conceived as a self-contained miniseries, following a disparate set of characters and settings, and a storyline with its own "beginning, middle, and end."

3) We are What We Are (2013)

The Parkers, a reclusive family who follow ancient customs, find their secret existence threatened as a torrential downpour moves into their area, forcing daughters Iris and Rose to assume responsibilities beyond those of a typical family.

4) Drag me to Hell (2009)

A loan officer who evicts an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point.

5) Maniac (2012)

Elijah Wood portrays a mentally disturbed young man who has taken over his family's mannequin sales business after the recent death of his mother, who also moonlighted as a prostitute. As he helps a young artist with her upcoming exhibition, his deadly, suppressed desires come to the surface.
