What is Black Friday and when did it start?
Black Friday goes back to the nineteenth century, in the United States Black Friday was associated with the financial crisis of 1869.
Black Friday is the day following Thanks Giving Day in the United States, it has been said to the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Even though Black Friday is not an official Holiday many people take the opportunity to take their time off work to start their Christmas shopping, this is due to the fact that on Black Friday many retailers run a heavily discounted sale on many well-known brands. This will also mean that stores everywhere will be open till late.
Over the years Black Friday has spread to many countries such as the UK, an estimate of £810 MILLION was splashed out in the UK just on Black Friday last year.
