9 Men’s Grooming Products Every Guy Should Have In His Bathroom
If you’ve been watching TV lately, you’ve probably become increasingly aware of new ads for male grooming products.
Many of these products solve a problem and are genuinely very helpful (beard bib, anyone?), whilst others are fairly outrageous (do not, whatever you do, Google ‘men’s cleaning brush’ - unless you’re looking for a bold gift for a groom-to-be!). Whether you’ve just moved into a new home but your bathroom’s looking a bit bare, or you want some modern essentials such as waterproof Bluetooth speakers to bring your bathroom into the 21st century, here are 9 products and electricals you can’t go without!
Men’s Grooming 101: 9 Essentials Your Bathroom Is Missing
When it comes to daily grooming products and time spent in the bathroom, we’re firm believers in the old adage ‘Less is more’. So without further ado, here are our top 10 must-haves for men’s bathrooms:
1 - Luxurious Bath Sheets
If you’re prone to using two towels to dry off, soft, extra large bath towels are what you need. The size of your towel may seem unexceptional at first thought, but once you’ve discovered the joy of wrapping your entire body up in a warm, soft towel after your bath or shower, you’ll never look back. Additionally, if you want a spa-like experience and you have money to spend, consider a towel warmer cabinet.
2 - Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
Shower radios are out, bathroom Bluetooth speakers are in! These inconspicuous devices are easy to use and can seamlessly connect with Bluetooth on your phone, delivering superb sound quality and robust streaming at the touch of a button! They might not be considered a 'grooming' product traditionally, but they make the bathroom our favourite room in the home, so we couldn't leave them out. Here at Bathroom TV, we even have portable Bluetooth speakers – perfect if you’re renting or if you have more than one bathroom and you want to listen anywhere!
Wind down to relaxing instrumental music, listen to an audio book, or - for the shower singers out there - turn the volume up for an energetic start to the morning! If you have a small bathroom and want to keep it minimalist, check out our stylish Bluetooth bathroom mirrors.
3 - A Quality Shaving Kit
If you’ve ever wondered how to get the best shave, the answer’s isn’t always down to technique; you also need the right men’s shaving kit and quality products. Here are our top tips for men’s shaving:
- Ensure your beard is thoroughly wet before you begin shaving – dry shaving can result in razor burns or a shaving rash.
- Bin the disposables and invest in a reliable and comfortable razor (and use it properly!) – Shave “with the grain” rather than in the opposite direction of hair growth. It may not result in as close a shave as the latter, but there’s less likelihood of ingrown hairs.
- Sick of treating nicks and cuts with squares of toilet paper? Take heed of barbers and use ‘alum’ after shaving.
4 - A mirror that doesn't fog up in the shower
Yes, who knew such a thing existed? Ideal for shower-shavers, you can purchase a fog-free mirror cheaply online and transform your shaving routine easily.
5 - Bath products for men
We’d be lying if we said we never enjoyed a bath every once in a while, and there’s a growing deluxe range of bathing products for men that make baths every bit more desirable. What could be more relaxing than a hot bath after a long day at work, after all?
The Dior Eau Sauvage Soap may be on the pricey side, but it’s a must for any gentleman’s bachelor pad. Or why not try vegan bath bombs with Pokémon characters hidden inside (also referred to as ‘Pokébombs’) – for those that think fun is wasted on the youth! There’s a world of products out there for every kind of man, so impress guests and make your bathroom your own.
6 - A soft, absorbent landing place for feet
Believe it or not, there is such a thing as a bath mat that isn’t continually wet. If you live with family, stepping out of the shower onto an already-wet bath mat probably isn’t new, but useless bath mats that don’t dry out quickly aren’t just a boring fact of life. Do a little research and invest in a bath mat that has 5-star reviews online and you’ll be winning.
7 - Cologne or aftershave?
Do you know your aftershave from your eau de toilette and cologne? Many men use them interchangeably, but it’s worthwhile knowing their differences (it could save you money).
Aftershave contains less perfume oil than cologne and eau de toilette, but they usually contain calming skin ingredients to soothe, refresh and hydrate skin. Eau de toilette has a higher percentage of perfume oils than cologne, but is stronger than aftershave. However, we wouldn’t advise using anything other than aftershave post-shave (the clue is in the name, after all!), as perfumes without soothing ingredients will be too harsh on skin immediately after a shave.
8 - Post-poo drops
Yes, you read that right. Leave the air freshener for the living room and opt for long-lasting, perfumed drops for the loo instead. Guaranteed to get guests talking, this little bottle lasts longer than any air freshener and is surprisingly effective at masking any pongy smell.
9 - A Waterproof TV
Nobody needs a waterproof TV, but they do open up a world of entertainment in your bathroom. It's not really about watching your favourite programs (we know you can do that in your living room already), it's more about choice. With a bathroom television, you have the freedom to watch whatever you want, wherever you want, without having to choose between a relaxing bath or your favourite programme. What's more, with an Amazon Firestick, you'll have access to hundreds of apps and music, too!
